Welcome to the You@Positive Challenge – 21 days to train your brain to be positive and happy and thereby improving function and performance.

Believe me, this is totally possible. Well, actually, believe Harvard Positive Psychologist, Shawn Achor – The Happiness Advantage: Linking Positive Brains to Performance. Dr. Achor will spell it out for you. If you haven’t watched the video yet, it might just be the best spent 12 and ½ minutes of your day. One thing: The video is hosted on YouTube so you may have to watch it from your personal device. By the end of this 21-day Challenge, I’m positive you will be a believer.

The field of Positive Psychology has mounds of evidence that we can create a positive attitude and increase our happiness – this is in our control. And when we are happy, our brains work better. Crazy, but true.

There are many activities that one can do to foster happiness and improve brain function. But we settled in on 5-daily-activities which can take as little as 20 minutes of your day. Here they are:

  1. Gratitude: at the end of each day, reflect and write down 3-things for which you are grateful. Find out more at https://www.srpmic-nsn.gov/wellpath/challenges/happiness_advantage/gratitude/.
  2. Journal: towards the end of your day, write about a positive experience which happened in the last 24 hours. For more guidance visit https://www.srpmic-nsn.gov/wellpath/challenges/happiness_advantage/journaling/.
  3. Exercise: Even just a few exercises, make time each day to exercise – For more guidance visit https://www.srpmic-nsn.gov/wellpath/challenges/happiness_advantage/daily-exercise/.  Also consider enlisting the help of a WellPath Coach to choose your exercises.
  4. Intentional Acts of Kindness: At least once a day, do something kind for a member of your social support group. To help define your “social support group” and find ideas to bless them, visit https://www.srpmic-nsn.gov/wellpath/challenges/happiness_advantage/kindness/.
  5. Meditate: Short routine, long routine, prayer, guided imagery, this daily activity can take many forms, but it all helps you focus inward. You probably guessed it, visit https://www.srpmic-nsn.gov/wellpath/challenges/happiness_advantage/meditation/   to learn more about meditation.

There is a Tracking Booklet and a Simple Tracker available to you to help you keep track of your progress on the daily activities throughout the challenge.
