Prepare an emergency kit with essentials like water, non-perishable food, flashlight, batteries, first aid supplies, and important documents.

Heat Exhaustion vs. Heat Stroke:
Stay safe and hydrated in the heat. Know the symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke to protect yourself and others. Know when to act and call 911.
Flooding Safety:
Since floods can occur with little to no notice, keep these tips in mind to avoid potentially fatal mistakes.
Salt River Project (SRP) Resources
SRP trims trees that are within 10 feet of pole-to-pole power lines. For your safety, never trim these yourself. If a tree on your property is touching, or close to, power lines, contact SRP at treetrim@srpnet.com or at (602) 236-8888.
To report an electric power emergency, please contact SRP at 602-236-8811. Power emergencies include electric shock, fallen power lines, arcing, explosions or damage to SRP facilities. In case of a fire or medical emergency, call 911!

EXTREME HEAT WARNING
Ongoing extreme heat is creating dangerous conditions across the community. Take precautions to stay safe.
☀️Know the Risks
Heat exhaustion and heat stroke can occur quickly
Vehicles can become deadly within minutes
Overnight temperatures may stay high, limiting recovery
💧Hydrate
Drink water before you feel thirsty
Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and sugary drinks
Use electrolytes when working or exercising outdoors
🕒Limit Outdoor Activity
Avoid outdoor activity between 10 AM and 6 PM
Take frequent breaks in shade or air conditioning
Wear light, loose-fitting clothing and a hat
🏠Stay Cool
Use air conditioning whenever possible
Visit cooling centers, malls, or libraries if needed
Keep blinds and curtains closed during peak sun hours
🚗Vehicle Safety
Never leave children, pets, or vulnerable adults in a car
Check your back seat before locking your vehicle
Car interiors can exceed 140°F within minutes
👥Check on Others
Older adults, children, and those with medical conditions are at higher risk
Ensure pets have shade and constant access to water

October 2026 General Welfare Payment: Important Deadlines
3rd Quarter 2026 ELIGIBILITY DEADLINE September 30, 2026
Must be eighteen (18) years old, enrolled, and living to be eligible for the October 2026 General Welfare Payout.
Deadlines for CHANGES
Direct Deposit Start-Ups and Changes:
Friday, October 16th at 5:00 PM.
This deadline is for new start-ups for direct deposit or changes to existing information. All forms MUST be submitted with a “VOIDED” check or statement from the bank with the Routing and Account Numbers. Forms received by this date will be effective for the October 2026 payout. Forms received after this date will not be effective until the January 2027 payout.
Discontinue Direct Deposits:
Friday, October 16th at 5:00 PM.
This deadline is to discontinue an existing direct deposit.
***Failure to notify the General Welfare department when an account is closed may delay your payment.
General Welfare Eligibility:
Tuesday, October 20th at 5:00PM.
This deadline is for submitting the Adult SRPMIC Member’s General Welfare Information Certificate. Forms received by this date will be effective for the October 2026 payout. Forms received after this date will not be processed until the first week of November 2026.

Our Land, Our Responsibility: Reporting Illegal Dumping Matters
In an effort to reduce illegal dumping on Community lands, we ask everyone who lives and works within the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community to help protect our natural resources by remaining alert and reporting illegal dumping or suspicious activity.
Most illegal dumping on Community lands is committed by non-Community members, including individuals and contractors who choose to avoid proper disposal costs. Cleaning up these sites requires significant time, equipment, and resources, and crews from the Community Development Department’s Environmental Protection & Natural Resources Division (CDD/EPNR).
The First Line of Defense
The most effective way to stop illegal dumping is to report it while it is happening. When notified immediately, the Salt River Police Department (SRPD) can respond quickly and, when appropriate, seize vehicles and trailers used to commit illegal dumping in accordance with SRPMIC Ordinances.
If you witness illegal dumping in progress:
- Do not approach the individuals involved. Your safety is the highest priority.
- Immediately call SRPD Dispatch at (480) 850-9230 and report that illegal dumping is in progress.
- Be prepared to provide as much information as possible, including:
- Vehicle type, color, and license plate number
- Number of individuals and their descriptions
- Type of materials being dumped
- Exact location of the incident
Every report makes a difference. By working together, Community members, employees, and SRPD can help deter illegal dumping, hold violators accountable, and preserve the beauty of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community for future generations.

🚧LONGMORE ROAD – NO EASTBOUND TURNS FROM MCDOWELL ROAD
📅Tuesday, August 4 to Thursday, September 10, 2026
- East and west bound traffic along McDowell Rd will be shifted to the two northern most lanes.
- Traffic traveling eastbound on McDowell Road will be unable to make a left-hand turn onto N Longmore Road during intersection paving activities.
- Detour routes to Alma School or 92nd Street will be required.
- The north and south bound lanes on Longmore Road, north of McDowell will remain open to local traffic.
