Funeral Assistance
SRPMIC Funeral Assistance Program is a coordinated effort between the Administrative and Public Works departments to provide financial assistance and resources towards funerals.
There are two types of assistance available: Funeral loans of up to $500 from the Administrative Department (details below) and mortuary assistance through Public Works of up to but not exceeding $3,370.00 per burial.
For more information on burial assistance, visit the Public Works Memorial Services site.
Council Policy 1-12 allows enrolled Community Members to request a funeral loan for expenses related to the death of an immediate family member. Eligible family members are verified by the family circle provided by the Salt River Membership Office.
- Only enrolled Community Members may apply for a funeral or funeral-related loan.
- Funeral and funeral-related loans shall be made only in the case of emergencies resulting from death for which affected families have no other resources to cover other than per capita
- Funeral loans shall not exceed $500 per individual enrolled Community Member applicant
The Funeral Loan Promissory Note must be completed before a loan is approved. You must be deemed eligible under Administration’s guidelines with no court injunction or a public fiduciary client.
