The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community (SRPMIC) is committed to the safety, security, and wellbeing of all who live, work, and visit the Community. Public safety services are provided through the Salt River Fire Department, Salt River Police Department, and Salt River Department of Corrections, working together to ensure a safe and secure environment.

Salt River Fire Department

The Salt River Fire Department (SRFD) delivers high-quality emergency and safety services across 96 square miles of the Community, which borders the greater Phoenix metropolitan area. The SRFD provides a range of essential services, including:

  • Fire prevention and suppression
  • Emergency medical response (ALS/BLS)
  • Rescue operations
  • Code enforcement
  • Public education initiatives
  • Community safety partnerships
Salt River Police Department

The Salt River Police Department (SRPD) serves the Salt River Indian Community, overseeing 96 square miles of residential, agricultural, and commercial lands. SRPD officers investigate tribal, state, and federal crimes, working closely with prosecutors and courts across all jurisdictions.

With 158 sworn police officers and 55 non-sworn team members, the SRPD provides education, enforcement, and community outreach with professionalism and respect.

Salt River Department of Corrections

The Salt River Department of Corrections (SRDOC) is responsible for the custody, care, and rehabilitation of individuals adjudicated by the SRPMIC Tribal Community Court. Operating 24/7, the facility has a rated capacity of 132 beds, with an additional 60 beds for arrestees.

The department offers rehabilitation programs and services designed to support successful reintegration and reduce recidivism, ensuring safety for both those in custody and the wider Community.

SRPMIC Sex Offender Registry & Compliance

In compliance with the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA), individuals who work, attend school, or reside within the Salt River Reservation are required to register with the Salt River Police Department. The SRPMIC Sex Offender Registry is a publicly accessible database, maintained by the SRPD Special Investigations Unit.

SRPMIC Exclusion List

Under Article VII, Section 1(g) of the SRPMIC Constitution, the SRPMIC Community Council has the authority to remove and exclude nonmembers whose presence is deemed detrimental to the peace, health, or morals of the Community or who violate tribal laws and ordinances.

Individuals on the Exclusion List are prohibited from entering, residing, visiting, or passing through SRPMIC lands for any reason.
