Understand Your Rights as an SRPMIC Member

The Judicial, Attorney, and Advocate Conduct & Discipline Commission serves as an independent and objective body for Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community (SRPMIC) members and litigants to file complaints regarding the conduct and behavior of Community Court judges, attorneys, and advocates.

The Commission’s purpose is to uphold public confidence in the Community Court by providing a fair, impartial, and efficient process to investigate and address allegations of misconduct.

Commission Responsibilities

The Commission has the authority to review complaints and take disciplinary action when allegations involve:

  • Misconduct in office.
  • Failure to perform the duties of a judge, attorney, or advocate.
  • Mental or physical incapacity affecting the ability to serve.
  • Violations of the Community Court’s judicial or professional rules of conduct.
  • Actions that bring disrepute to the judiciary.
What the Commission Cannot Do

The Commission does not act as an appellate court and cannot:

  • Change a judge’s ruling or decision.
  • Intervene in an active case.
  • Remove a judge from a specific case.
  • Award damages or monetary relief to litigants.
Who Serves on the Commission?

The Commission consists of three appointed members, each serving a four-year term:

  • One retired federal, state, or tribal judge not currently serving on the SRPMIC Community Court.
  • One licensed attorney admitted to the Arizona State Bar, with experience in Federal Indian law and tribal communities.
  • One SRPMIC community member, with or without legal or judicial experience.
How to File a Complaint

To submit a complaint regarding judicial, attorney, or advocate conduct, please complete the Judicial Conduct Complaint Form. This form provides guidance on the necessary details to include in your submission.
