
Operations Division
Under the supervision of Lt. Stacie Mitchell, the operations division is responsible for managing the daily activities of the jail. These activities include meal service, recreation, in-house escorts, out of facility transports, laundry, visitation, admissions, discharges, property management and a host of other duties that are required for effective operations. Simultaneously, the front line staff maintain constant observation in an effort to enforce department policy and procedure to ensure facility security and the safety of staff, detainees, contractors, volunteers and visitors. This is achieved by implementing best security practices and exceptional communication skills. These staff members provide 24 hours a day, 7 days week coverage and supervision.
Administrative Division
Under the supervision of the Administration Lieutenant, the Division provides administrative support services that enable correction staff to carry out their responsibilities. Some of these divisions and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Classification, Training and Development.
Training and Professional Development – A training team is responsible for the development, coordination, delivery and documentation of training within the department. This includes mandatory in-service training and specialty training. Additionally, all volunteers and contractors must complete appropriate initial and refresher training. The training team also assists staff in professional development opportunities, national certifications and memberships, specialized training, online training opportunities and attendance/participation in national conferences. This is done in an effort to encourage staff to meet the challenges of today’s quickly changing world, prepare employees for career advancement and to perform the duties defined by their position.
Detainee Programs – SRDOC provides a wide range of offender programming opportunities to make positive changes in an effort to achieve successful reintegration into the community following discharge. The department relies on Community collaboration and the selfless work of volunteers to deliver such programming. While these opportunities vary, past and present offers have included education (high school, GED and secondary), fathers group, life skills enrichment, religious services, food handler certificates, CPR/First Aid certification resume writing, sweat lodge, Story Book Moms and Dads, Diverting Our Native Teens (DON’T) program,
Investigative and Security Threat Groups
SRDOC has a number of investigators and security threat group (STG) officers who have received specialized training and are with assessing offender security threats and security threat group identification and validation. These specially trained staff seek and appropriately disseminate intelligence related to STG activities.
Investigators may collect and preserve evidence, interview complainants and witnesses, and ensure other investigative approaches are conducted or considered such as photographs, drawings, and records research for a variety of different incidents.
Hostage/Crisis Negotiation Team
These specially trained officers receive extensive training on managing various hostage situations and the de-escalation of crisis situations. This team of officers work in coordination with many other local law enforcement agencies.
