Maricopa County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) in cooperation with the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community (SRPMIC) is beginning with Phase Two (TT0342) of a two-phase project to improve McKellips Road between State Route 101 (SR 101L) to Alma School Road.

Phase One which began May 2023, built new infrastructure throughout the project limits, including water and sewer lines and drainage system and has been completed.

Phase Two (TT0342) project construction will focus on above-ground improvements and begins in January 2025. This phase will install new pavement, curb, and sidewalk, and includes groundwork for street light improvements. A raised roadway median island will be built along McKellips Road with improvements made to the intersections at 92nd Street, Dobson Road, Longmore Road and Alma School Road.

Once completed, the McKellips Road project will improve pavement conditions along with pedestrian and bicycle travel. As with Phase One, Phase Two work will maintain access to properties during construction and will require temporary lane restrictions as needed when underway. Roadway restrictions and the project schedule will be posted before construction begins. Phase Two of this project is anticipated to be completed late 2025.
