Solid Waste

The SRPMIC Public Works Department Solid Waste section provides residential, tribal government and commercial services. The SRPMIC Public Works Department Solid Waste Section is committed to providing friendly customer service to all. The Solid Waste section is divided into two groups: Residential and Commercial. Each group offers different types of services.

Residential Services
Residential, Domestic and Recycling Services
All Domestic (Gray Cans) and Recycle (Blue Cans) containers
Solid Waste

Should have all trash/recycle items bagged properly. For the recycle container, a clear, plastic recycle bag may be used.

Should be placed in the designated pick up area by 6:00am on your regularly scheduled pick up day.

Have container placed within one foot off the road and at least three feet apart.

No items should be placed on top or around the containers.

Privately owned vehicles must be removed from the designated pick up area to not block the containers or the pick up area.

Any containers not in their designated pick up area will not be serviced until the next scheduled pick up day.

Recycle material items include:
Solid Waste

Paper: newspaper, paper bags, telephone books, junk mail, notebook paper, office papers, envelopes, etc.

Cardboard: packing boxes, cereal and any other food boxes, soda and beer boxes, tissue boxes, etc. (To conserve space in the recycling containers, please break/cut down all large boxes)

Plastics: milk containers, soda bottles, water bottles, detergent bottles, lotion bottles, yogurt containers, margarine & cottage cheese containers, etc. (#1 – #7 are recyclable)

Glass: Green, yellow, amber or clear glass, bottles or jars. (Window panes, automobile glass or mirrors are NOT accepted at the Salt River Recycling Facility)

Aluminum & Metal: beverage cans, tin food cans, frozen dinner trays, aluminum foil, pie plates, etc.

Aseptic Containers: milk cartons, juice cartons, juice boxes, ice cream containers, etc.

Medical Waste Items: (i.e. syringes, lancets, etc.)
Solid Waste

To prevent injuries, please do not throw loose sharps into the trash cans. Place used sharps into a think plastic type container with a screw lid.

Such as:

Orange juice bottles

Laundry detergent bottles

Laundry fabric softener bottles

When the container is full, mark the bottle “DO NOT RECYCLE” screw on the lid tight for precautions and put a heavy type tape, such as duct tape, around the lid. Then you may place it in the regular trash.

Large Item pick ups:

Must be placed at least 5 feet from trash container pick up area or close to the road.

Should be 10 feet away from any water meter, fence, mailboxes or any obstacles that may block the path.

Any large amounts of magazines and or newspapers should be bundled up, boxed, tied or taped.

Any yard debris such loose grass, leaves and small branches should be bagged, boxed, sealed or tied.

For larger tree limbs, please cut down the branches to 3-4 feet and pile in the pick up area.

Pickups may be affected by equipment/labor availability and weather.

Residential Roll Off Bins
Solid Waste

Roll off bins are available upon request. Please be advised there maybe a waiting list. Roll off bins may be requested for the week (Monday morning-Friday afternoon) or the weekend (Friday afternoon-Monday morning). Please call Public Customer Service to schedule a roll off bin delivery.

Non Acceptable Items for Residential Services

Items not acceptable for any type of disposal or inside containers or roll off bins:

Solid Waste

Cement and/or concrete

Dirt and/or rocks

Car parts such as engines, hood, windows, tires with rims, etc.

Metal sheets

Hazardous Materials such as household cleaning products, motor oils, gasoline, kerosene, liquid paints, paint thinners, expired medications, automobile batteries, tires with rims and poisons of all types.

You can dispose of hazardous Materials at the annual Household Hazardous Waste collection at Earth Day and Fall Overhaul events.

If any of the following materials are found inside roll off bins or domestic/recycle containers, we may not empty any bins or containers until items are removed.

Commercial Services

The SRPMIC Public Works Solid Waste Section can provide a full range of refuse and recycling collection services for business and contractors in the Community.

Front load prices in the table are for a single container/one day per week service.

Solid Waste

For additional front load containers (more than one), the most expensive container will be billed at full price, and a discount of 10% applied to all additional containers.

Additional days for service for front load containers will be billed at the single day rate shown in the table multiplied by the number of service days for each container. For new services, please contact the Public Works Department at (480) 362 – 5600.

New Account opening fee of $75.00 will be applied when service is established.

Bins with lock device: $100.00 additional one-time fee per container.

Bins with casters: $100.00 additional one-time fee per container.

Add 25% to applicable rates for bins located at restaurants due to wet garbage.

Extra dumps charged an additional 25% of regular bill.

A fee of $300.00 per month rental rate will be applied to roll off dumpsters if no service was ordered within a 30-day period.

*Additional disposal fees or processing cost will be charged for weights over 3 tons in a roll off dumpsters.
