Salt River Fire Department
The Salt River Fire Department provides quality safety and emergency services to the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. The SRFD delivers service to approximately 92 square miles of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, which borders the greater Phoenix metropolitan area. Examples of services that the SRFD delivers to the Community include: fire prevention, emergency medical response (ALS/BLS), fire suppression, rescue, code enforcement, public education, and community partnerships.
Salt River Police Department
The Salt River Police Department delivers police services to the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, which includes 96 square miles of residential, agricultural, and commercial lands. The SRPD investigates all tribal, state, and federal crimes, and presents these investigations to tribal, state, and federal prosecutors, and testifies in tribal, state, and federal courts. The 158 sworn police officers and 55 non-sworn team members who form the police department take very special pride in delivering innovative educational and enforcement services with personal excellence and respect for the community, and for all those who live, work, and visit the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community.
Salt River Department of Corrections
The Salt River Department of Corrections is a public safety agency within the SRPMIC community. The Department is charged with the supervision, care, custody, control and correctional programming of sentenced and non-sentenced adult and juvenile offenders who are adjudicated by Tribal Community Court. Our facility has a rated capacity of 132 with an additional 60 beds for arrestee population. The department offers a wide range of programs and services to the detainee population in order to assist with the reentry process and reduce recidivism. We operate 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. The Department is committed to improving its ability to provide safety and security to those trusted in our custody and the community at large.
SRPMIC Sex Offender Registry
The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community is in the process of enacting key provisions of the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA). As part of SORNA, all qualifying sex offenders who work, go to school, or reside within the SRPMIC boundaries are required to register with the Salt River Police Department. In addition, the SORNA compliance process establishes the SRPMIC Sex Offender Registry website as a publicly accessible registry. The Sex Offender Registry is maintained by the SRPMIC and the Salt River Police Department – Special Investigations.
SRPMIC Exclusion List
Article VII, Section 1(g) of the Constitution of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community (“SRPMIC” or “Community”) authorizes the SRPMIC Council to remove and exclude from the territory of the SRPMIC nonmembers whose presence is found to be detrimental to the peace, health or morals of the SRPMIC or who violates tribal laws or ordinances. If excluded from the Community, a person is generally not allowed to be within the territorial boundary of the SRPMIC and is not allowed to drive through, visit others, reside or come on the SRPMIC’s boundaries at any time for any reason.
