Ricardo was elected as the Vice President for the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community in September of 2018. He has served 4 consecutive four-year terms as a Council Member. He is married and has five children. He is also the proud grandpa of two grandsons.
Currently, Vice President Leonard serves on the following: Saddleback Communications Enterprise Board, Salt River Fields Board, Audit Committee, Investment Committee, Gaming Negotiating Team, and the 12% Committee. He also serves as the Phoenix Representative on the Facilities Appropriations Advisory Board for the Indian Health Services and is a Cultural Liaison on the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act committee.
Ricardo served four years in the United States Army, stationed in Garlstedt, Germany and Ft. Hood, Texas. He is a past Commander of the American Legion Post #114 Bushmasters and continues today to be involved as a member of the Post.
Vice President Leonard speaks the O’odham (Pima) language and is a Traditional Singer and Advisor among the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community.
