About the Salt River Fire Department

Officially established on August 30, 1982.The Salt River Fire Department is a premier “all-risk / full service” public safety organization. Services delivered include and are not limited to: fire prevention, emergency medical response (ALS/BLS), fire suppression, rescue, technical rescue, code enforcement, public education, and community partnerships.

The Salt River Fire Department delivers service to approximately 92 square miles of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, which borders the greater Phoenix metropolitian area.

The Fire Department is a career department with 92 members comprised of:

  • The Command Branch which consists of the Fire Chief, three Deputy Chiefs, three Battalion Chiefs, , Emergency manager, Two assistant Emergency managers.
  • The Operations Branch’s complement is 12 station captains, 1 training captain, 12 engineers, 27 firefighter/paramedics, 27 firefighter/EMT personnel, and 1 Deputy Fire Marshal.

The Salt River Fire Department has four stations to service the Salt River Community. Each station is comprised of an “advanced life support” fire apparatus, and “advanced life support” rescue (ambulance).
