Family Advocacy Center (FAC)

Frequently Asked Questions

Services are provided to any victim of a crime within the boundaries of the SRPMIC. This includes individuals who are non-offending community members, Native Americans, Non-Native-Americans, children and adults.

The FAC only provides services to victims who are referred by an MDT partner. Outside referrals or self-referrals are not accepted at this time.

The FAC provides regular trauma counseling as long as clinically appropriate. It follows a trauma-informed approach, so recommends that the client continue individual therapy with their assigned therapist to prevent unnecessary transfer of services. They may participate in group or family counseling while continuing individual services with their current therapist.

We use the term “victim” instead of “survivor” for legal clarity and to accurately define the individual’s role in the situation for law enforcement and other legal agencies. Additionally, we believe that a person becomes a survivor after they have worked through the healing process.
