Mission Statement
The mission of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Department of Corrections is to hold pre-trial and sentenced detainees for the Community Court while observing Tribal Code and other relevant laws of sound adult and juvenile corrections practices.
The Department strives to foster unity and leadership in rehabilitative programs in an effort to deter crime and recidivism. Above all, the department is committed to providing employees a stable, safe work environment which encourages continued learning, creativity, innovation and personal growth to improve the overall effectiveness and success of the organization.
Goals
The goal of the Department of Corrections is to remain dedicated to the people of the Community in which we serve by displaying a spirit of involvement, service and professionalism in an effort to enhance the quality of life within the Community. We strive to accomplish this goal by:
- Enhancing the safety of the Community through sound correctional practices.
- Gaining public trust through openness and responsiveness.
- Reducing the risk that detainees will re-offend after release.
- Operating responsible correctional programs which emphasize resident accountability and productivity.
- Providing work and program opportunities geared towards personal responsibility and respect for all residents.
