To be eligible for an interview and possible employment with SRDOC, non-certified applicants will be required to pass a  test prior to being invited to the oral interview process.  Non-certified applicants are those who have never received certification as a correctional officer OR who previously had certification but have been out of the field for more than 24 months (2 years).

Lateral candidates (those who are currently certified) will NOT have to participate in the physical agility standards test but will be required to pass an oral interview to be considered for hire.

Candidates who are ultimately selected for hire will be notified by HR and a conditional offer of employment made. SRPMIC Human Resourced and Department of Corrections will simultaneously begin an extensive background investigation prior to a final offer and start date being extended.

Non-certified hires will be required to attend and successfully graduate the Correctional Officer Training Academy (COTA) located in Tucson Arizona. This is a seven week academy that requires you to stay on site from Sunday evening, until Friday evening. Transportation to and from the academy is the responsibility of the cadet.  For more information see the Arizona Department of Corrections website.

Minimum Requirements for ALL applicants (are not limited to the following):

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Proof of tribal enrollment (if applicable)
  • Valid Arizona Drivers License within 30 days of hire and be insurable under the Tribal Insurance guidelines for driving position
