Salt River High School Recruiting for New Alumni Association
Salt River Schools is working to get more alumni involved with school-related activities and decisions.
Two recent alumni-recruiting efforts were an alumni flag football game on October 3 and an alumni volleyball game two days later, during the high school’s Homecoming week earlier this month. The flag football game was in its second year and the volleyball game was a new addition this year. A potential alumni basketball game later this year is being discussed, Alvin Saenz said.
“The ultimate goal is to get [Salt River High School alumni] more involved in the decision-making in the direction we want this school to go, because they’ve been here and been through the experience of Salt River High School,” Saenz said before the football game, which he helped referee.

The new association will encourage alumni participation for decision-making purposes, student mentoring and student skill development.
"The goal for the alumni association is to build a stronger sense of community," SRHS Principal Brian Mabb said. "We want to help our current generation of students to see the many great things that are alumni have accomplished so that they will be inspired to achieve their own dreams."
Alumni from Desert Eagle High School are also encouraged to join the association. Desert Eagle was the old high school in the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community before Salt River High School was built a little more than 10 years ago.
