On Tuesday, April 19, Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community member and Westwood Warrior Aaron Makil played in a neutral conference baseball game against the Dobson High School Mustangs at Hohokam Stadium in Mesa. As a senior, this was the final home game for Makil, who is nearing the start of a new collegiate journey.
The Warriors dominated the Mustangs in nine innings, with their strongest inning being the third, racking up nine runs. The Warriors also made one run during the second inning. The Warriors won with a score of 11-1. Their overall record (as of May 2) was 19-8, ranking the team 25th in the state of Arizona.
Makil is an all-around athlete, playing basketball andóthe most enjoyable sport for himóbaseball. Makil plays shortstop, second and third base, outfield and pitcher. He is versatile enough to play any position on the field, which is very beneficial for the Warriors.
Being a senior at Westwood High School means that Makil will soon be graduating and furthering his education and baseball career.
