Huhugam Ki Museum Celebrates 28 Years

gallery-01On Saturday, November 7, the Huhugam Ki Museum celebrated its 28th anniversary with dancers, singers and vendors from various parts of the state. The event, which began at noon and ended at 6 p.m., was open to the public. The program began with the posting of colors by the American Legion Ira H. Hayes Post 84 from Sacaton. Attendees were welcomed by Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community President Delbert Ray, Sr. and were given a brief presentation on the history of the museum by Museum Manager Gary Owens.

29th Annual Red Mountain Eagle Pow-Wow

gallery-02The 29th Annual Red Mountain Eagle Pow-Wow was held on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community on the weekend of November 7 and 8 at the Salt River Baseball Field. The Saturday and Sunday event drew in hundreds of spectators from the Community and neighboring communities who came to enjoy the traditional dancing, singing, vendors and food.

Tribal Leaders and Gaming Executives Honor Tradition of Tribal Gaming

gallery-03The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, a presenting sponsor, hosted the annual Arizona Indian Gaming Association (AIGA) Expo October 28-30 at the Talking Stick Resort. Tribal leaders and gaming executives from throughout Indian Country gather every year to share knowledge and discuss issues regarding tribal gaming.

SRPMIC Fall Festival

gallery-03On Friday, October 23, Community members and Non-Community members gathered at the Salt River Community Building parking lot for the Annual Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Fall Festival. Many entered the costume contest, visited various activity booths, a haunted house and various arts and crafts tables. The night also included food vendors, music provided by a DJ and a Thriller dance performance.
