Community Wellness Expo

gallery-01The Community Wellness Expo, “Get Ready, Get Set, Get Healthy,” held on July 18 at Salt River High School, was an event specifically designed for Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community members as a part of the Community’s WellPath Program. Many tribal members, along with their family and friends, came out to participate, get ideas to help with improving or maintaining their fitness, and just enjoy the day with others.

The Art of Traditional Pottery-Making at SRPMIC Continues Today

gallery-02During July, Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community member Ron Carlos of the Cultural Resources Department offered a pottery-making class to Community members. On July 25, all the participants fired their pots as the final step in the class.

Senior Services Center Renovations in Phase Four

gallery-03Since April 2014, renovations for the 21 year old Salt River Senior Services Center have been under way. If you haven’t already taken a stroll through the center, obvious changes might include fresh paint, new flooring, cultural décor, dining room and restroom renovations, a new entrance lobby and some new administrative offices. Currently, construction renovations are in phase four of six.

Schimmel Sisters Continue to Inspire Native Youth

gallery-03On Tuesday, July 14, the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community welcomed the Schimmel family to the Community. They were here to participate in the second annual Native American Heritage Night at US Airways Center in downtown Phoenix. The family first appeared at the Round House Café for a meet-and-greet.
