Ninth Annual Veterans Recognition Powwow

gallery-01From Friday, March 27, to Sunday, March 29, the Ninth Annual Veterans Recognition Powwow took place at the Salt River Baseball Field at the corner of Longmore and McDowell roads. Every year, the powwow recognizes veterans from the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community and surrounding areas. This year was another year for spectators to come together as one and to reflect, sing, dance and pray.

Early Childhood Education Center Powwow

gallery-02The Early Childhood Education Center held their eighth annual mini pow wow event on the schools playground, drum group- Midnight Eagle sang throughout the entire event and the honored elder was Doreen Duncan she and her husband Ken Duncan helped direct the dance arena. 

Aal-Tash Fun Day Rodeo

gallery-03On the sunny Saturday morning of April 4, youth, teens and adults put on their Wrangler jeans, cowboy boots and hats and headed to the annual Aal-Tash Fun Day Rodeo. The rodeo was held at the Wild Horse Facility “behind the canal,” off North Mesa Drive in the northern part of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community.

Easter Time at Salt River!

gallery-04Hundreds of people, young and old came out to the Salt River Community baseball field to take part in this year’s Easter event on Saturday, April 4. Easter time at Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community is a time to hunt for Easter eggs, participate or watch this year’s Easter parade fashion contests, see who would win the egg eating contest, have a picture taken with the Easter bunny, and more!
