The Salt River Fire Department, Police Department and Public Works Department held Safety Day for Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community members and youth at the Salt River Ball Field on October 23. Activities for everyone were available, such as games and information booths from departments within the Community.

On-site displays and demonstrations included fire trucks from the Community and a presentation by the SRFD Search and Rescue Team. Youth and adults got the chance to sit inside emergency vehicles and on police motorcycle units, and a rescue helicopter from Native Air landed on the baseball field during the event..

The Public Works Road Section sponsored the Temporary Traffic Control Awareness activity. At the temporary traffic control area, there was a traffic obstacle course for youngsters to navigate while riding large tricycles. The course had actual road signs and street barricades.

The SRPMIC Health and Human Services Division was also at the event, checking vital signs as well as getting immunization information and providing vaccinations.
