2014 Red Mountain Duathlon

Runners and bike riders of all ages participated in the 2014 Red Mountain Duathlon on April 26, starting at Salt River High School. The event was hosted by the Salt River Diabetes Prevention Program. A duathlon race consists of one leg of running, one leg of bicycle riding, and a final leg of running.

Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community member Celia Padilla-Hicks started playing volleyball and softball at age 9. Now, nine years later, she will be part of the graduating class of 2014 of Saint Mary’s High School in Phoenix.


Girls’ High School Basketball: Bittersweet Endings and New Beginnings

  With the end of the school year fast approaching, most students are looking forward to summertime fun. For four Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community girls who attend Stapley Junior High and play for the girls’ basketball team, they first had to experience a bittersweet moment after their final game of the season, on Monday, May 5.
