2014 Spring Break Week

gallery-01The week of March 17-21 was Spring Break week for students of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. On each day that week, kids were treated to special activities so they could enjoy the time away from school with their families, friends and staff from the Community. Planned activities ranged from games and outdoor fun to movies, a tour at Salt River Fields and a visit to Butterfly Wonderland. The activities were open to enrolled SRPMIC members, and the capacity was 60 students ages 6-9, 70 youth ages 10-13, and 25 teens ages 14-17. Everyone reported having a great time.

Community Garden Unveiled

gallery-02Every Wednesday, the three-, four- and five-year olds in the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community’s Early Enrichment Program (EEP) are working on special lessons with the Cultural Resources Department to introduce them to O’odham/Piipaash culture and traditions.

Unity Run

gallery-03Completing the five-day prayer relay run known as the Unity Run, runners finally entered the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community on Friday, March 21. The Unity Run began at Black Mountain in San Xavier in southern Arizona on Sunday, March 16, and runners ended their journey at Red Mountain the following Friday.

March Madness Fun Run

gallery-04The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community’s Diabetes Education Program held the March Madness Fun Run and Walk on March 22, at Salt River High School’s athletics building. The event includes several runs and walks, starting with the Youth Progressive 1-Mile Run.
