The Salt River High School Lady Eagles softball team made it to the Arizona Interscholastic Association’s state playoff games, coming in as the ninth seed in the 2013 AIA Division 4 state tournament. The teams played at the Rose Mofford Sports Complex in Phoenix.
Their first game was against the 24th-seeded Mogollon Mustangs, and the Lady Eagles were victorious, 18-1, after five innings. In Round 2, they played against the Valley Lutheran Blue Devils, who were the No. 8 seed in the tournament. The Lady Eagles were able to go an extra inning against the Blue Devils, but they ultimately lost, with a score of 9-10.
“We got to state and made it to the second round. I want to thank the parents and fans who came out to all the games to support us,” said head coach Scott Cooper. “This season I had very good coaches, and I also want to thank them too.”
