Spring Classic; NWT Takes it All

On May 18, 2013, on a warm sunny afternoon, the Parks and Recreation department held their 4th annual Spring Classic; a double elimination co-ed softball tournament. This year, the tournament had seven teams participate in the tournament. NWT was victorious as they defeated the Squishes in a close game; 6-9. NWT started out with a lead early in the game and kept the Squishe’s bats silent with a strong defense. The final game of the tournament was played late Saturday afternoon at the Community Field. First place winners, NWT, received Baseball shirts and second place received long sleeve shirts.


Salt River High School Athletic Banquet

As the school year came to a close, Salt River High School held the 2012-13 Athletics Banquet on May 7 for all the students who participated in school sports throughout the year. Students in more than 20 sports categories were recognized, and more than 200 awards were presented.


Community Families Enjoy a Night Out, With a Twist of Color

A number of Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community families took part in the Scottsdale Neon Splash Dash, held at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick on the night of Saturday, May 11. The event, a night-time 5K run/walk, drew close to 5,000 participants.
