Junior ACE Program

gallery-01Some Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community school students spend part of their summer participating in the Junior Achieving a College Education (Junior ACE) Program, a collaborative venture involving Scottsdale Community College and the Community schools. The program engages students in fifth through eighth grade and exposes them to college-related experiences.

Journalism Camp

gallery-02The Asian American Journalists Association sponsored its JCamp (Journalism Camp) at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C., June 21-26. This year, the association felt the need to incorporate other diverse youth from around the country, making it a multicultural learning experience.

Fitness Challenge and Bench Press Competition

gallery-03On Thursday, June 13, the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Diabetes Program held its annual Bench Press Competition along with a Strength and Muscle Endurance Competition. SRPMIC Community members and employees were able to participate. Those who competed were able to test their physical and mental abilities.


gallery-04What better way to close the spring season than with the championship game of the Adult Kickball League, before record temperatures started showing up? The league came to an end on June 24. Twelve teams participated in the month-long league, hosted by the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Recreation Department at the Salt River Ball Field. The season saw 11 games (and two games at one time), played during the evenings, with players ages 18 and older.
