EPNR & AZFG Tag Eaglets

gallery-01The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community’s Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Department (EPNR) and the Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGF) teamed up to tag eaglets nesting on the Community in early March.
Each year the two departments join forces as AZGF staff band the four- to six-week-old eaglets, assess their health status, and to remove any hazardous objects in their nests.

2012 Desert Classic

gallery-02Baseball and softball seasons are underway, and both teams from Salt River High School competed in the 2012 Desert Classic hosted by Phoenix Country Day School on March 2 and 3. The baseball team finished with a final record of 2-3 and the softball team ended the tournament 2-2.


gallery-01Salt River High School held their annual athletic banquet for athletes, coaches and their families on Monday, March 5. Siblings Lakota Scabby, 11, and Kristine Scabby, 6, participated in the 7th Arizona International Open of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition on Saturday, March 3. The Talking Stick Golf Club held a golf clinic open to Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community members on February 21. The Round House Café hosted a Home Run Derby. Motivation and drive seem to be the two greatest contributions junior Kishan Cooper and sophomore Joy Manuel made to the Salt River High School Lady Eagles basketball team this season.
