If you are a young man or woman interested in a career in law enforcement, the Salt River Police Department Explorers Program, Post 909, is just the program for you.

Explorers Post 909 was established in 1995 to give young men and women of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community the opportunity to learn firsthand of the duties and responsibilities of a police officer.

Police Explorers learn valuable life skills such as self-esteem, esprit de corps, service, respect, pride and dedication. Explorers participate in meetings, community events and SRPD and ride-a-longs.

This free program is offered to youth ages 14-20 who have no serious criminal offenses.

The SRPD Explorers Post 909 meets twice a month, every other Tuesday, at 5:30 p.m. at the Indian School District Station.

For more information, contact SRPD Officer Anslem Flores or Sergeant Matt Hedrick at (480) 850-8200.
