New SRPD DUI Processing Van

By Sgt. Anthony Sandoval

On May 27, the Salt River Police Department (SRPD) unveiled its new DUI Processing Van for the Memorial Day Weekend DUI Task Force. The brand-new, state-of-the-art, $180,000 van was awarded to the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community and the SRPD by the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, based partly on the fact that SRPD is one of the state’s top enforcement agencies in apprehending impaired drivers. The SRPD DUI Processing Van is one of six vans awarded to state agencies; the others went to the Phoenix Police Department, Tucson Police Department, Scottsdale Police Department, Arizona Department of Public Safety and the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.
