Junior Lady Eagles Volleyball at 4-0

The members of the Salt River Junior High Lady Eagles volleyball team have been spending a lot of time in the gym practicing their skills. Many are returning players from last year, although the team has some new players and some right out of elementary school.


SRHS Athletic Director: Sports Play a Positive Role in Students’ Lives

Salt River High School (SRHS) Athletic Director Shawn Lytle said the increase in participation in this year’s school athletic programs reflects the growth in athletics within the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. He said one of the goals is to try to get more students and athletes to SRHS.


Monsoon Madness Softball Tournament Lives Up to Its Name

This year the Monsoon Madness Adult Co-ed Slow-Pitch Softball Tournament lived up to its name. The tournament began on August 25 and was set to wrap up on Saturday, August 28, but the weather played havoc on the games. The championship game was postponed until Sunday evening. On that night, although clouds were visible, no rain was in sight.


Salt River High School Football Captains Lead by Example On and Off the Field

Earning the title of captain was something Salt River High School (SRHS) senior Taneasha Thomas had been working for since the end of last season as a member of the varsity football team; but for her teammate Hoss Smith, it wasn’t a surprise he was chosen as a captain this season, since he was also team captain as a junior.
