To efficiently investigate all crimes requiring follow-up, while concentrating on serious solvable crimes that can be prosecuted in tribal, state or federal courts. Investigators utilize specialized investigative skills and techniques to aid in the prosecution of these crimes. CID maintains informative databases and investigative files on narcotic and sex offenders.
Provide specialized investigative skills and appropriate proactive techniques to aid in solving crimes involving property, persons/crimes against children and narcotic offenses and prosecute those crimes in tribal, state or federal courts.
The Criminal Investigations Division (CID) consists of three (3) bureaus:
General Investigations Bureau – GIB investigates major crimes, persons crimes, crimes against children (C.A.C.) and property crimes.
(ex: murders, drive-by shootings, suicide, sexual assaults, dead bodies or fatal traffic collisions, assaults of children (sexual and physical), neglect or abandonment of children, fraud, counterfeiting, stolen vehicles, criminal damage and casino crimes)
Special Investigations Bureau – SIB investigates narcotic crimes and gang crimes.
(ex: undercover operations, surveillance, search warrants, seizures and all facets of narcotics enforcement/investigation, all gang related and gang motivated crimes)
Property and Evidence Bureau – PEB is responsible for all property or evidence which comes into the custody of the Salt River Police Department, including: packaging, impounding and storage of items by adhering to set legal and OSHA standards. This also includes the transporting of items to authorized crime laboratories for scientific or forensic examinations.
