The Salt River Department of Corrections recognizes the need to develop an up-to-date list of qualified candidates so that entry-level and supervisory positions may be filled with the best candidates available. The procedures used are fair and nondiscriminatory, so as to provide equal opportunity to all applicants and to ensure that the broadest fields of applicants possible are available from which to select.

Corrections Officer Employment

To be eligible for an interview and possible subsequent employment with SRDOC, you will be required to pass a Physical Agility Standards test prior to being invited to the oral interview process. Lateral candidates will NOT have to participate in the physical agility standards test but will be required to pass an oral interview to be considered for hire.

Candidates selected will be notified by HR and a conditional offer of employment made. Candidates that accept will be sent a link for the SRDOC Background and Willingness Questionnaire that must to be completed and returned to SRDOC within 72 hours of accepting the offer to initiate the background investigation. Actual placement will be based on successful completion of all background requirements.

The Salt River Department of Corrections requires certification by an accepted Certified Correctional Academy. If you are not currently certified (within the last 24 months) you will be required to attend and pass C.O.T.A. (Corrections Officer Training Academy) in Tucson, Arizona. This is a seven week academy that requires you to stay on site from Sunday evening, until Friday evening. For more information see the Arizona Department of Corrections web site.

Minimum Requirements for ALL applicants (are not limited to the following):

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Proof of tribal enrollment (if applicable)
  • Valid Arizona Drivers License upon day of hire
  • Completed Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community application
