Super Kids Program Presents Back-to-School Glow Carnival
On August 31, the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Recreation Department hosted the Super Kids Back-to-School Family Night and Glow Carnival. Super Kids and their families gathered for a night of fun at the Salt River Community Building gymnasium.
“We have a lot of fun going on here. We really took into consideration our Super Kids and the various disabilities that they have, and we created something fun for all of them to enjoy. It’s good to see them having fun with their families,” said Social Programs Supervisor Teresa Masayesva.
The gymnasium was filled with all kinds of activities. Various Community departments participated by setting up booths with games, such as glow-in-the-dark bowling, glow-in-the dark ring-toss, face painting, inflatable bounce houses, basketball, tic-tac-toe and more. Children also played a game of cakewalk, but instead of winning traditional sweets, they received school supplies. There were also plenty of food, snacks and glow sticks for everyone in attendance.
