The event was one of a handful of events held as part of Week of the Young Child, a national initiative celebrating early learning, young children, educators and families. Child Find, a Salt River Schools program, hosted an activity each day from April 24-28 as part of the local celebration. Child Find serves children from birth to age 5.

Child Find Day at VA II Park, a neighborhood park south of the school campus, attracted more than a dozen children and their families. A free hamburger and hot dog meal was provided, along with raffles and games including a beanbag toss and a mini obstacle course. Blowing bubbles and arts and crafts were quite popular.

On April 24, Child Find hosted a dance party at Friendship Park; the next day saw a make-your-own trail mix activity the next day at the Round House Café. On April 27, Child Find was back at the Round House for a rock-painting activity. A child development screening and milestone event wrapped up the week on April 28.
