Salt River Schools Celebrate Early Childhood Education Center Mini Powwow

Inter-tribal dancers perform during the drum group singing.

On April 7, Salt River Schools held the 10th Annual Early Childhood Education Center Mini Powwow.

This was one of a variety of special events happening at ECEC during April in commemoration of the Month of the Young Child.

On this bright, sunny morning, the powwow began with the grand entry, followed by the posting of the colors by the Salt River High school’s Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps. Drummers performed a victory song and high school student Arianna Chiago sang the national anthem.

Little ones in colorful dance regalia entered into the circle. The welcoming address was given by Tami Brungard, ECEC leader, who thanked everyone for coming out.

ECEC students, parents, teachers and guests enjoyed a great morning of dance and song from different drum groups and dancers.
