Scottsdale Community College Hosts Third Annual Social Gathering

Participants take part in the competitions at the SCC Social Gathering.

Scottsdale Community College’s Sun Earth Alliance Indian Club held its third annual Social Gathering at the school’s football field on April 8.

Many dancers participated in different categories or in social dances. Dance specials included Tiny Tots, Hand Drum and Jingle Dress dancing.

Dancers, spectators and families came to the event to see the different categories of dance, as well as to buy from Native American vendors selling jewelry and artwork.

Women dance at the gathering.
Also present at the gathering were representatives from universities, such as Arizona State University, who talked to SCC students about transferring to further their education once they complete their community college education.

SCC is located in the western part of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, along Chaparral Road, just west of Loop 202.
