Salt River Fields Named Valley’s Best Spring Training Facility

LEED Gold Certification - Salt River Fields is the first LEED Gold-certified sports venue of its kind in the United States. The LEED program (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) helps building owners to be environmentally responsible and use resources efficiently.

The award-winning Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, host of Major League Baseball’s Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies, is about to start its seventh spring training season. Over the years, Salt River Fields has won 28 awards, including a national award, and it just added another one.

In December, the Arizona Foothills “Best of Our Valley 2017” issue named Salt River Fields the “Best Spring Training Facility” in the Valley. It’s the second straight year that Salt River Fields has won this award.

Arizona Foothills Magazine is an upscale lifestyle publication published in Scottsdale. The award winners are based on votes by the magazine’s readers and Valley residents.

“It’s always an honor to be nominated and [win an award],” said Chris Bonnell, SRF events marketing coordinator. “Everyone here works really hard at producing the best events and best spring training [season] that we can every year. [Receiving this award] helps validate all the hard work that goes into it.”

The 140-acre facility began construction in 2009 and officially opened in 2011. Since then, baseball fans come by the thousands to watch their favorite teams play and, if they’re lucky enough, to meet their favorite players.

“Last year, we were named the No. 1 spring training facility in the whole country; that’s one [award] that we are very excited about,” Bonnell said. “We also won the Arizona Foothills Award for Best Spring Training Facility last year, and we hold the top six attendance records for all spring training facilities in Major League Baseball. [Our awards are] something we like to share and are definitely proud of.”

As the spring training season approaches, SRF is working to make this year’s spring training experience just as great as last season’s, if not better.

“[We] facilitate players, coaches and the team philosophies. We’re always touching base with them every day. It’s an ongoing process. Everyone knows their role and plays their part to provide the best spring training experience day in and day out,” added Bonnell.

Join the baseball fun and experience one of the best spring training facilities in the country!
