SRPMIC Comes Together for Thanksgiving
It’s that time of the year again!
The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community held its annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner Program on Saturday, November 11, at the Two Waters Complex Courtyard. Community members and guests enjoyed a tasty holiday meal, a turkey-calling contest, live music and entertainment.
The program started with a welcome by Jr. Miss Salt River Sistine Lewis and the blessing of the food by SRPMIC Council member Thomas Largo. President Delbert Ray, Sr. provided a Thanksgiving message and reminded the Community to be thankful for everything it has, and for the families who live here. He made it known that events like the Thanksgiving Program bring the Community together.
Dinner included turkey, dressing, ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, squash, salsa, cranberry sauce, rolls, pumpkin pie, soda and water.
Southern Scratch provided live music. Entertainment was also provided by Indigenous Enterprise, who performed a couple dances for all in attendance. On the field, kids participated in activities, a pie walk and various games throughout the afternoon.
