They walked to engage the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community.

More than 200 Salt River Schools teachers and staff members participated in the first-ever SRS Community Walk on August 2.

The walk is part of a new initiative to engage all members of the Community, especially families who do not have students attending Division schools.

Staff groups were bused to neighborhoods across Salt River and Lehi to knock on doors and share information about how the various schools and programs can benefit all Community members and their families.

Participants received matching shirts with the SRS slogan "We Will Do This Together" in O'odham, Piipaash and English.
August 7 was the first day of school for Salt River Elementary School, Salt River High School, the Early Childhood Education Center and the Accelerated Learning Academy.
