Salt River Eagles Soar, Open Football Season With Win

The Eagles scored 20 unanswered points in the first half and beat James Madison Preparatory School 36-12 on August 26.

The Salt River Eagles and new coach Kerry Taylor opened the 2016 football season with a convincing win.

The Eagles scored 20 unanswered points in the first half and beat James Madison Preparatory School 36-12 on August 26. The game was Salt River’s home opener and Taylor’s first win as a high school football coach.

The Eagles scored five touchdowns, including two in the fourth quarter. In the first half, Salt River scored three times in less than four minutes. James Madison finally scored with 10 seconds left before halftime.

Salt River starts the season with three straight home games. The Eagles host New Way Academy on September 9 and visit Ajo High School on September 16. Homecoming is set for October 21 against Orme School.
