On October 6, the Salt River High School varsity volleyball team celebrated Senior Night with a win.

The team beat Sequoia Pathway High School 2-0. Salt River was originally going to play Prescott Valley, but that team suddenly cancelled on the day of the game.

“Our goal is to get into the playoffs. We’re sitting [on the borderline], so the next couple weeks will determine if we go to playoffs or not,” said Salt River volleyball coach Kate Wilson. Salt River has to wait to see how the other teams in the division finish.

As for rest of the evening, the volleyball game was about recognizing Salt River seniors. The highlights were right after warm-ups before the game.

On the court, school coaches and staff greeted seniors Nicole Melendez, Sophia Jackson, Nevalena Lewis and Nazhoni Leos with flowers. Family members and parents of the seniors accepted a Lady Eagles collage with the players’ names on it.

Brandon Tauscher, Salt River High School athletic director, said, “Overall, it was a very special night for the seniors, families and teams.”
