What you see on social media or online about #NoDAPL - attack dogs, crop duster, arrests or water protectors direct action – is not exactly what goes on every day at any of the sacred camps. The water protectors carefully plan their direct actions, or peaceful protesting, with tribal leaders and key people at the campsites. Those who are invited to participate in direct action must complete the proper training. Direct action happens at the construction sites, some about half a mile north of the camps and some nearly 30 miles away. These photos are a depiction of unity, peace, pride, ceremony and prayer.
