Piipaash Matasheevm Gathering Keeping Traditions Alive in Lehi

It was a time for Community members and members of the sister tribes to come together for a day of chiyer (bird) singing and dancing.

Kamehameha Schools Visit Explores Common Themes in Cultural Education Programs

gallery-02 On the morning of Wednesday, April 13, a delegation of four teachers from the Kamehameha Schools school system in Hawaii and two representatives from Arizona State University visited the Salt River Schools. The visitors were here to learn about the O’odham and Piipaash cultural education programs offered to students enrolled in Salt River Schools and to explore common themes, challenges and opportunities in providing students with cultural education.

Westwood Warriors Varsity Baseball Team Wins Neutral Conference Game

gallery-04On Tuesday, April 19, Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community member and Westwood Warrior Aaron Makil played in a neutral conference baseball game against the Dobson High School Mustangs at Hohokam Stadium in Mesa. As a senior, this was the final home game for Makil, who is nearing the start of a new collegiate journey.
