AZ Warriors Make NABI History, Repeat as Champions

For four minutes on a recent Friday night, a group of Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community women were center stage in front of thousands of football fans.

And the dancing ladies didn’t disappoint.

On June 17, the Salt River Senior Steppers, a dance group made up of Community seniors ages 55 and older, performed for the second straight year at an Arizona Rattlers halftime show. A little more than 11,000 people watched the Rattlers beat Philadelphia Soul 80-63, but it was the halftime show that SRPMIC members came to see.

Groundbreaking Held for Way of Life Center

On July 13, a Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community groundbreaking ceremony was held for the anticipated Way of Life Center, which will be located on the southeast corner of Indian School Road and Center Street.
 
Community Members Speak Out About New Health Clinic

On Tuesday, June 28, the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Engineering Construction Services (ECS) Department, in conjunction with SmithGroupJJR, an architecture and engineering firm, held its first Design Advisory Committee meeting at Two Waters Building B. More than 20 Community members exchanged their ideas and recommendations for the new SRPMIC Health Clinic with SmithGroupJJR and ECS staff. The new SRPMIC Health Clinic will be approximately a 90,000-square-foot Indian Health Service satellite clinic located northeast of the new Justice Center at the corner of Longmore and Osborn roads. This new health clinic is deemed to be “a place for healing and wellness.”
 
SRCF Salt River Children’s Foundation Receives Donation

On the morning of June 30 at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, representatives from the Salt River Children’s Foundation and Salt River Fields gathered at the centerfield entrance for a check presentation in the amount of $8,000 to the Salt River Children’s Foundation from Executive Council Charities of Phoenix.
