Three football players from Salt River High School received recognition by their peers and Arizona high school coaches for making the All-State team. Junior Taden Peck was named CAA Division I First Team All-State offensive line and was one of six players in the state to be recognized for the award. Peck worked on an offensive line that ran the ball for 2017 yards in eight games (252.1 yards per game) and scored 23 rushing touchdowns. Peck also scored two touchdowns while averaging 16.2 yards per catch playing tight end for the Salt River Eagles.
Junior Alex Hill-Jimenez was named First Team All-State running back, one of only two running backs in the state selected for the award. He rushed for an average of 123.7 yards per game and scored 11 touchdowns. He also passed for five touchdowns on the season while averaging 47.7 passing yards per game playing the “Wildcat” quarterback position.
Also worthy of note, the lone senior on the SRHS football team this season, Jacob Juan, represented Salt River High School on Saturday, December 5, in the CAA Senior Bowl, an All-Star game featuring the best CAA senior talent in the state. Juan’s game was played on his home field at Salt River High School and he recovered a fumble in the contest.
