The members of the Eagles wrestling team of Salt River High School have been working hard preparing for meets this winter. The team’s record was three wins and two losses as of December 18. In their respective weight divisions, junior Jason James is undefeated, 11-0, and sophomore Andre Enas is also undefeated, 6-0. The Eagles will be at 32 wins and 14 losses in combined individual matches.

At the Imagine Prep Coolidge Tournament, which took place on November 14, James placed first in his weight class, senior Cedric Prieto finished third in his weight class and Denton Miguel was fifth in his weight class.

Prieto is a first-year wrestler who is showing improvement. James is in his fourth year of wrestling and is a returning state runner-up in his weight class. He also was SRHS’s first national qualifier, earning a spot on the Arizona team for the national championships in 2014, his freshman year. Enas is in his fifth year of wrestling and is a returning state champion in his weight class. Miguel is a junior and is in his fifth year wrestling for SRHS. His brother, Garrett Miguel, is in sixth grade and joined the junior high team this year.

The SRHS wrestling team is led by coaches Na Humma and Dave Crebs.
