The Salt River Community Children’s Foundation hosted its 13th annual golf tournament, its primary fundraiser of the season, on December 5 at Talking Stick Golf Club.

In all, over $200,000 was raised at the popular event, which attracted 288 golfers. The event included a golf-ball drop by Salt River Fire Department firefighters, acknowledgement of event sponsors and golf-related awards.

The SRCCF provides student scholarships and sponsorships for programs that help Community youth with educational development.

This year, SRCCF sponsored one youth to participate in an internship in Washington, D.C., and she was recently asked to return for a second year, SRCCF Vice President Blessing McAnlis-Vasquez told the golf group.

“We are very proud of her, and thanks to you all for sending her there in the first place,” she said.

“Through your support, we are able not only to support programs that send our youth to camps, [offer] educational developmental programs and [provide for] healthcare needs, but we are also sponsoring individuals to do all those things as well,” McAnlis-Vasquez said.

SRCCF golf tournament participants enjoy a meal and drinks after playing a round of golf. Salt River firefighters volunteer for the golf ball drop. The owner of the ball closest to the golf hole won a prize.
