Two SRPMIC Employees Honored for Earning Certification

Tiphani Thomas and Michael Petteys, both of the SRPMIC Internal Audit Department, receive framed certificates for their recent achievement.

Two Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community employees, one a Community member, were recently recognized for earning key certifications related to their field of work.

Community member Tiphani Thomas and employee Michael Petteys received framed certificates on July 22. Both work for the Community’s Internal Audit Department.

Thomas started working for the department in January and received her Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) designation in March after passing a four-part test related to fraud prevention, investigation, and law and fraud schemes.

Petteys has been with the department since 2012. He obtained his Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation in April.

“This will help our department meet its goal of protecting the assets of the Community,” said Terry Dooley, director of the Internal Audit Department.

Dooley and other members of the department surprised Thomas and Petteys with the certificates at a strategic planning meeting. Thomas’ boyfriend, Josh Houmes, and Petteys’ wife, Julie Petteys, were part of the surprise and were invited to the certificate presentation. SRPMIC Community Manager Bryan D. Meyers presented the certificates.
