Interior Secretary Kicks-off Native Youth Listening Tour at Salt River Elementary School

gallery-01On Tuesday, February 10, the Department of the Interior (DOI) Secretary Sally Jewell kicked off the Native Youth Listening Tour at Salt River Elementary School. This tour is an initiative that was instilled by the Obama Administration to meet with Native youth across Indian Country in hopes of better understanding barriers and challenges keeping Native youth from succeeding.


Taking a VisionQuest 20/20 Journey With Interactive Video Games

gallery-02OOn Saturday, February 21, the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Education Division in partnership with the Arizona-based nonprofit VisionQuest 20/20 provided an opportunity to demonstrate an innovative vision screening program to interested tribal and state leadership members, and just as important provide Community members free eye exams using this new technology.

SRPMIC to Begin Construction on New Judicial Court Center

gallery-03The SRP-MIC Judicial Court Center is being built at the corner of Longmore and Osborn Roads, just across for the Two Waters Governmental complex.
The new judicial Court Center is expected to be completed by within 18-months. Updates on progress will be provided, as needed. The center will be composed of 7 court rooms: 2 civil, 2 juvenile, and 1 appellate; the court rooms will have the infrastructure to support video conferencing between the Department of Corrections and the courtrooms for video arraignments. The new building will have the capability to audio and video record court proceedings.

Special guest and host Tom Leander Broadcaster to the Phoenix Suns started off the pep assembly February 18, inside the school’s gymnasium which nearly 200 students attended of the Salt River High School to celebrate the NBA Fit Program.
