New Year's Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament

From January 10 – 11, the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community hosted the 2015 New Year's Men's and Women’s Basketball Tournament at the Pi-Copa Gymnasium. The tournament attracted 16 teams from throughout the state. The double elimination tournament allowed for each team to play against other competitive team hoping for championship bragging rights.

The men’s and women’s championship game was played on Sunday, January 11. The women’s championship game involved Ball It Up! and X-Factor. X-Factor, a team of eight women, dominated the women’s tournament and eventually earned championship bragging rights. The men’s championship game involved Ruff Ryders and Fort McDowell Fight Club. Fort McDowell Fight Club, a team of six men, fought their way to earn the championship title, the game ended with a final score of 68-60.
