Lady Warriors Holiday Jingle Jam Champions!

The Lady Warriors youth basketball team, led by coaches Shawn Lytle and Scott Cooper, participated in the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Holiday Jingle Jam Youth Basketball Tournament from December 21 to December 23. This double elimination tournament was held at the Salt River Pi-Copa and Lehi Gymnasiums.

 

New Year's Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament

From January 10 – 11, the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community hosted the 2015 New Year's Men's and Women’s Basketball Tournament at the Pi-Copa Gymnasium. The tournament attracted 16 teams from throughout the state. The double elimination tournament allowed for each team to play against other competitive team hoping for championship bragging rights.

 

Healthy Relationships with Food

During the recent holidays, many of us ate so much that we felt absolutely stuffed. For some of us, eating beyond the feeling of full is not a rare occurrence. We find different reasons for overeating. It may start as mindless snacking while watching television and progress to eating because we feel depressed, lonely, or frustrated. How did you feel after overeating -- simply annoyed that you gave yourself a stomachache? Or were you tormented by guilt or shame?

With the holidays out of the way, chances are we are left with a little more weight than we wanted. January 1 has significance to most Americans because it’s a day to wipe your slate clean and begin a new year—most of the time, on a healthy note. New Year’s resolutions are promises you make to yourself so that throughout the year you make positive changes. Chances are, eating healthier is one of your resolutions.
